By Marc Zienkiewicz Lac du Bonnet's arena is getting a facelift. Work began this week to give the building some major upgrades including installing a subfloor, lining the ceiling with a special liner to prevent condensation (being installed by local contractor Troy Simcoe), and painting as well. "It's going well and all our volunteers are working very hard," arena board member Mike Lussier said. The arena is seeing approximately $60,000 in repairs, after months of hard work on the part of the facility's board to collect the necessary funds and fi gure out the best way to make use of them. Also included in the work will be pressure washing both the ice area and lobby, and the building of a wall of recognition to help recognize accomplishments, contributions and commitment to the arena both past and present. "Things are going great," new arena manager Kim Kettles said. Kettles is a well-known face at the arena, having volunteered his time teaching hockey schools and taking part in a multitude of other hockey-related community activities.
